TubeSpoon - CHUCK SAVED! Picked Up For A 3rd Season...but there's a catch.

Alright, the good news is that The Hollywood Reporter is, well, reporting that Chuck has been renewed and that NBC/Uni will announce on Tuesday. All good, right? That's what we at The Spoon and fans around the world wanted.

But this is NBC we're dealing with; there's always a catch.

The Reporter is also reporting that the Josh Schwartz comedy will suffer a MASSIVE budget cut. That means less visual effects, action sequences, and/or (heaven forbid) dropping cast members. I think we all know where they are going with this.

Buy More crew? See ya.

Ellie and Awesome? Later.

It has been a rocky road for Chuck, but at least it is getting the 3rd Season that it sorely needs. Especially after that Season 2 finale...

TubeSpoon - CHUCK SAVED? Stay Tuned.

UPDATE: Chuck's fate will be decided on May 19th. By our own admission, The Spoon may have jumped the gun. NBC's Ben Silverman is now reporting that IF Chuck comes back, it may not be on Monday nights.

STAY TUNED.

After a week of internet speculation, a Subway campaign, and heated, coffee-fueled debate (primarily amongst those of us at The Spoon), NBC/Universal is expected to announce the renewal of CHUCK for next season. The spy comedy will join Parks & Recreation, Medium, Law & Order, and Southland as NBC's hour long survivors in the upcoming The Jay Leno Show era.

It's great to see fan support for this fun and intelligent show. It's also good that SpoonRock and I will be spared further unnecessary bitterness towards television as a whole.

TubeSpoon - Heroes

Ditch that zero and get with a hero....

It has been a strange season to say the least. Hiro a 10 year old? Peter lost his powers [again]? Arthur Patrelli is alive and wants to right the world by destroying it? Nikki Saunders is Tracy Strauss, but not really because they were genetically created? Syler is brothers with Peter and Nathan....................and becomes a wuss in the future?????

Then they fired some writers..........

Now things are back to normal:
Nathan thinks he is doing good but in all actuallity is not - Awesome
Sylar is a killer again - Awesome
Peter is whiny again, just without his powers - Awesome
Hiro became the greatest hero ever, then fucked it up within seconds - Awesome.

See, what I am saying is that there was a reason why season 1 was so popular. If they stick to that theme for the rest of the season, it could possibly be saved.......... saved........... could the writers be the REAL heroes of this show?

TubeSpoon - My Own Worst Enemy

Mondays just got a little bit better. Following Chuck and Heroes is the new one hour actioner 'My Own Worst Enemy' starring Christian Slater. Action? Yep. Espionage? Check. Complicated plot? Nah. If you could follow Total Recall, True Lies, and any given episode of Alias, you'll be just fine.

Christian Slater stars as Edward--badass, indestructible super agent. This guy is so super top secret; the agency he works for is so classified that a split personality had to be created within his brain. At the end of each mission he is "Put To Sleep", meaning he becomes the dormant personality Henry.

Henry works a boring job, has a loving family, and is wondering why he keeps having these dreams of adventure and intrigue.

Things, inevitably, get wild when Henry wakes up during one of Edwards missions.

You follow?

Anyway, if you can handle three hours of tv on Mondays you may as well watch 'My Own Worst Enemy' after 'Heroes'.

We owe it to Christian Slater...it's been a long road for that dude.

TubeSpoon - Heroes

Hiro Heroes season 3 begins in just a few days; Monday, September 22nd! On NBC of course!

This season will consists of two volumes. A 13-episode story arc called "Villans" and a 12-episode story arc entitled "Fugitives." The titles of these two volumes excite me, about damn time!

Looking at what Heroes has accomplished so far, my expectations for this new season are set very high. I look forward to seeing this psudeo X-Men world come to life and answering the "what if" question - "what if you had super-powers, would you use it for good or evil?"

I am expecting a lot from this season. I would like to see "good" characters change, have "bad" characters justify their reasons for being evil, seeing the three-way split occur between "normies" (normal people), heroes and villians; where the heroes (like all super heroes) must endure their social rejection from the normal people, yet constantly risk their own lives to protect those people from the evil villians who do not play by any rules, completely disregarding the safety of anyone other than their own.

How will this season turn out? Will I end up completely disappointed, giving up on the greatness that was heroes? Or will I be so enthralled with the fantastic-ness of this TV show, that in my drunken celebration of a great season, I'll find myself in the chair of a tattoo parlor, gleefully rummaging over a pile of potential Heroes-themed tattoos...for my face.

TubeSpoon - Chuck!

NBC's Chuck is one hell of a fun show and you need to watch it. Keep a couple of things in mind here:

* Chuck - season 2 begins MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd. If you won't be around, set the DVR.
* Chuck - season 1 will be out on DVD in THREE DAYS! The DVD comes out on September 16th

You, nay, everyone needs to watch this show, it's fantastic. If you still aren't too sure? Then at least check out the show for Yvonne Strahovski; she is gorgeous. Did I mention that she is Australian too - that accent, good lord...
